March News
Paddington Bear
It is hard to let go of a friend even when you know it is for the best. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Paddington Bear on March 19th. He served Storybook's children for ten years always giving his best - a steady ride, a patient stance and a fuzzy neck to hug. He blessed us beyond measure, replacing our troubles and sadness with joy and happiness. We deeply appreciate the many comforting and kind words that our families, friends and volunteer have shared with us these past two weeks. A very special thank you to the veterinarians at Auburn University who provided him with the best care imaginable. Paddy's selfless gift of love and companionship will always be remembered and cherished.
Community Foundation of the Chattahoochee Valley
We were so excited to be featured in the 2011 Report to the Community from the Community Foundation of the Chattahoochee Valley. There is a great article about The WestPoint Fund titled A Lesson in Philanthropy. The article tells about a class from Auburn University that worked all semester on a proposal to the WestPoint Fund on behalf of Storybook. It is a great story, and you can read the entire thing here.

Pure Barre
On March 2nd and 3rd, our friends at Pure Barre of Auburn hosted "Pure Give" days during which 100% of their classproceeds would be donated to Storybook Farm. These classes combined to raise $710. We so appreciate Courtney, Kelly and their faithful clientele who supported Storybook as the lifted, toned and burned!
Max Fitness 5K
The Auburn/Opelika communities put on their running shoes on March 3rd for Max Fitness' 5K Run. Despite the gloomy weather, many people braved the rain and hit the ground running to help support Storybook! A huge thank you to Marvis Raymer, the staff of Max Fitness and all the sponsors of the race that helped raise $993! It was a great success for the first year, and we cannot wait to make it even bigger next year.
EAMC Volunteers
A huge thank you to the volunteers from East Alabama Medical Center for coming out to the Farm! For an entire afternoon, they helped by cleaning tack, sweeping and dusting the floors, and working around the barn. They all worked so hard, and we’re so thankful for their help.
Big Event

Storybook Farm was a work site for Auburn University's Big Event project on March 24th. Our pony, Tom Sawyer, worked hiswell-known charm and convinced almost 100 of Auburn's finest to paint fences! They lived up to his expectations and used 45 gallons of paint in the process! Thanks to all the students for helping Tom with this daunting task!
4-H
We’d like to send a huge thank-you to the 4-H group who also helped us out on March 24. They filled up all of the eggs with goodies for our upcoming Easter Egg Hunt, which will be part of our Family Easter Party on April 5th. Thank you girls so much for all of your help!
Moving on up...
Congratulations to our very own Ellen Rankins and Jessica Scott who became PATH, Intl. Certified Instructors. They traveled to Thomasville, Ga, to participate in four days of intense training and testing. As expected, they passed with flying colors, and we are excited to share their wonderful achievement with all our friends.
